AI photography generation....

How do I feel about AI generative photography ?

So how do we all feel about my latest image ? Nice huh ? Cute guy, nice background bokeh, well lit - they guys going to be pretty happy with it I reckon. Except - non of it is real. The guy does not exist - the entire image have been AI generated in just a couple of clicks.

Just think for a moment what the impact of this now is. Previously to create this you would have to find the model, the location, arrange dates and times, prep camera kit, travel, set up, shoot and then edit your images post shoot. Oh and pay your model please. A lot of effort, time and skill for sure. But all of this can now be done from home or studio or anywhere with internet connectivity and the right software in literally seconds.

Does this now do away with the need for cameras, locations and even models ? I’m not sure we are quite at that stage but as the whole AI chariot races ahead it is becoming a real possibility. I can definitely see the convenience side of it and the speed side of it and if I’m brutally honest the quality is not bad either. Personally I think my generated image is a perfectly useable image for a number of purposes. The downside for me is the removal of genuine human interaction. It removes the conversation, the guidance and the direction from photographers, art directors, marketing teams, stylists all of whom play a part in the creation of images and leaves it to an algorithm to try and work out what you want. Will an AI images ever be able to convey a genuine smile or look that gets created by a real life human being at any given. moment - I doubt it.

I am not anti AI at all - I actually embrace it and I am genuinely intrigued to see where it goes. Art and photography art has always been developing and pulling in new technologies and this is the next phase but as long as a human being is involved in the process along the way then there is hope !
